Privacy Policy
How we handle your information.
This Privacy Policy explains how Sister Warriors Action Fund (“SWAF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website, sign up through our forms, make a donation or pay membership dues, or receive emails and text messages from us.
Effective date: October 27, 2026
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us. We collect what you enter in our forms:
- Newsletter signups: your first name, email address, and ZIP code.
- Pledge to Vote: your name, email address, and ZIP code, plus your mobile number and consent to receive text messages if you choose to give them.
- Volunteer signups: your name, email address, ZIP code, and the ways you want to help, plus your mobile number and consent to receive text messages if you choose to give them.
- Endorsement applications: the candidate’s and campaign’s contact details, the race, and the candidate’s answers to our questions. One question asks whether the candidate is systems-impacted; “Prefer not to say” is always an option.
- Contact and media inquiries: your name, email address, message, and, for media inquiries, your outlet.
Donations and membership dues. Contributions are processed by ActBlue through the donation form on our site. ActBlue collects your payment details; we never see or store your card number. ActBlue shares with us your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, occupation, employer, and the amount and date of your contribution, which we need to keep records and to meet campaign finance law. See ActBlue’s privacy policy.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our site:
- Google Analytics records the pages you visit, how you found us, your device and browser, and your approximate location (city, region, and country), worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics does not store your IP address.
- Our web host keeps standard server logs, including your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.
- Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts and some code from Cloudflare’s cdnjs service. Your browser contacts those services directly, which shares your IP address with them.
2. Cookies and Analytics
We use a small number of cookies:
- Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID. They tell visits apart and keep track of a session, and they last up to two years.
- ActBlue sets its own cookies inside the donation form to process and verify contributions and, if you saved your details with ActBlue Express, to fill them in for you. ActBlue’s privacy policy governs them.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on our site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can stop Google Analytics from collecting your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Google Analytics and ActBlue may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites. To learn how Google uses it, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Do Not Track. Our site does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because there is no common standard for them.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Send you the newsletters, action alerts, and event updates you signed up for.
- Follow up on your pledge to vote or volunteer signup, including text messages if you opted in.
- Review endorsement applications. Our Endorsement Committee reads the applications it considers.
- Answer your questions and media requests.
- Process contributions, keep financial records, and file the reports that campaign finance law requires.
- Understand how people use our site, so we can improve it.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these ways:
- Service providers that work for us. NationBuilder is our supporter database, where your form submissions are stored; Zapier moves them there from our site. ActBlue processes contributions. Google provides analytics and fonts. Other companies host our website and deliver our email. They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
- Campaign finance reports. California law, and federal law where it applies, requires us to report information about some contributors, such as name, address, occupation, and employer, to government agencies. These reports are public.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of SWAF, our supporters, or others.
5. Text Messages
If you opt in on one of our forms, we may send you recurring text messages about actions, events, and elections. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages, or HELP for help. You do not have to agree to texts to sign a pledge, volunteer, or donate.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text message opt-in data and consent are excluded from all of the sharing described in this policy and will not be shared with any third parties.
6. Your Choices
- Email: unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of any email from us.
- Text messages: reply STOP.
- Analytics: use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or your browser’s cookie settings.
- Your information: email info@swactionfund.org to ask what information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. We may need to keep some records, such as contribution records, that the law requires us to keep.
7. How We Protect and Keep Your Information
We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections and limited access, to protect your information. No website or database is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee it. We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires, and then delete it.
8. Children
Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Other Websites
Our site links to other websites, such as candidates’ campaign sites, ActBlue, and voter registration sites. Their privacy policies, not this one, apply to information you give them.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above. If we make a significant change to how we use your information, we will also post a notice on our site.
